5 Steps to Boost Your Immune System

A lot of members of the Phoenix, Chandler and Gilbert communities are looking to boost their immune system to either fight off colds faster, get well, or ensure they never get sick. Here is a short list of 5 ways you can boost your immune system easily so you can start to feel better toady!

#1 One of the easiest and most important things you can do to boost your immune system is limiting your sugar intake. Sugar has been shown to destroy the germ-killing ability of white blood cells for up to five hours after ingestion. Start by eliminating sugar in the obvious forms; anything with corn syrup, soda, fruit juice, candy as well as table sugar. Then work towards the more hidden forms like white bread, rice, pasta, and those dangerous sugar laden fat-free and reduced fat products.

#2 Incorporate more naturally fed and organic foods into your diet.  Add healthy foods full of naturally healthy fats like eggs from truly free-roaming chicken, grass fed and raw dairy as well as organically grown veggies and low sugar fruits can help provide essential nutrients to boost your immune function. In fact the vitamin A found in grass fed butter is essential to a healthy immune system. As an added bonus healthy grass fed butter is full of short and medium chain fatty acids that also have immune system strengthening properties.

#3 Consume more naturally fermented foods like yogurt, kombucha, kefir, or kimchi which can help boost your immune system naturally, by adding existing balanced flora eco-systems to your body.  These products contain natural enzymes to aid in the digestive process and help body utilize all important nutrients from foods. Fermented foods may also affect energy absorption by the body. Researchers have documented a difference in the types of bacteria found in a lean person's gut compared to those that live in the gut of an obese person.

#4 Another great way of boosting immune system naturally is consuming more Omega-3 fatty acid rich foods like walnuts and oil, macadamia nuts and krill oil supplements. Seafood is also very high in Omega-3, but also often contains high levels of heavy metals. The ratio of omega–3 to omega–6 essential fatty acids that a person consumes directly impacts the health of their immune response.

#5 Moderate exercising, contrary to the popular belief that high-intensity workouts for prolonged periods of time are good for you, moderate exercise is a great way of boosting your immune system naturally. Exercise like the Vibetality whole body vibration 15 minute fitness program is and excellent way to stimulate your lymphatic system. The Lymph system plays a vital role in our defense against infection.
